Air travel demand elasticities are estimated separately for RyanAir and easyJet. The following variables are considered as potential sales determinants.
1. Gross Domestic Product per Capita
2. Household Disposable Income
3. Inflation
Based on the historic data available for these variables, a multi variate regression is carried to arrive at the function that can be used to forecast the sales. This econometric model is then used to forecast the sales figures for the two companies. The independent variables are also forecast using the 3rd Order Polynomial method. These are then used in the regression equation to get the forecast of sales for the years to come.
