Should the news and politicians be believed the world of today is becoming a very dangerous environment due to the activities of international terrorists? There is a popular view or, in fact, popular news in every channel or communication media that the international terrorist activities are on the rise; it is spoken about in the newspapers almost everyday. To add to this statement, a number of long speeches are delivered by the politicians in this regard alarming the people of various countries. In the UK, the government has, and is taking a number of measures to control the international terrorist activities. With management principles creeping into every aspect of the government’s strategies, these measures to control the activities of the terrorists are no exception. It is interesting to note that the government has adopted four core strategies for dealing with the management and control of risk. These four core strategies, namely prevent, pursue, protect and prepare were then discussed in detail and analysed. These strategies are then compared with the strategies for dealing with the management of control and risk, namely risk avoidance, risk reduction, risk transfer and risk retention.
